Improving Sexual Dysfunction

Horny Goat Weed (epimedium grandiflorum) has long been employed to restore sexual desire, help fatigue, increase sperm production and to stimulate the sensory nerves.

Burra Gokhru(Tribulus Terrestis) has in recent times shown its effectiveness in improving sexual function.  Studies performed in Europe concluded that supplementation with tribulus could increase testosterone levels by 30 per cent or more in just five days.

Muira Puama (Lirosma Ovata) was the subject of a paper presented at The First International Congress on Ethnopharmacology held in Strasbourg, France, in 1990.  It described a trial done at the Institute of Sexology in Paris on 262 men with erection problems and a lack of sexual desire.  Researchers found that over half of the subjects given a daily dose of 1 to 1.5g of muira puama extract over two weeks experienced positive benefits to their sex lives.

Green Oats (Avena Sativa).  Modern studies at the Institute For Advanced Study of Human Sexuality have shown that Avena Sativa helps improve interest in sex.

Damiana (Turnera Diffusa).  In the 1900's, a doctor in the U.S. who conducted research in his own practice found damiana to assist in cases of partial impotence and sexual debility.  It is also used for chronic fatigue and mental and physical exhaustion.

Korean Ginseng (Panax Ginseng).  A study published in the journal British Pharmacology in May 1995, concluded that substances in ginseng extract known as ginsenosides work in a simular way as Viagra in enhancing the effects of nitric oxide, which helps relax artery walls, allowing more blood to flow into the penis.

Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus).  In modern times, eleuthero's ability to increase stamina and endurance led Soviet Olympic athletes to use it to enhance their training.  Helps to maintain aerobic exercise longer and recover from workouts more quickly.

Ginkgo Biloba. Recent reports suggest that ginkgo may be useful in reversing the impotence caused by drugs in the Prozac family as well as other antidepressant medications.

Nettle (Urtica Dioca) contains numerous biologically active chemicals that may influence the function of the prostate, interact with sex hormones, slow the growth of prostate cells, fight prostate cancer and reduce inflammation.

B6.  Because vitamin B6 plays a cental role in the formation of several key neurotransmitters and the production of serotonin, melatonin and dopamine, it is frequently recommended as a nutrient to support mental function (mood and nerve conduction).

Zinc is essential for metabolism, growth, sexual maturation and reproduction.  Zinc concentration in seminal fluid is regarded as an excellent indication of prostatic function.
