Haemorrhoids (Piles) occur externally and internally and are located around the anus.

We all know what function the rectum serves and unfortunately when haemorrhoids raise their ugly heads so to speak, the natural process of eliminating waste from our body becomes painful.

Although Science has not been able to corner the exact cause of haemorrhoids, research has shown that there are factors which contribute to the formation of these " nasties ".

Symptoms can range from a dull ache for internal haemorrhoids due to swelling while external haemorrhoids offer a more stabbing and intense throbbing at the site.

You may experience:

bulletitching ( can drive you to distraction and as a member of my family mildly put it once - makes you want to grab a wire brush and give it a good scratch ! )
bulleta burning sensation
bulletgrape like lumps which can protrude form the anal opening.
bulletsometimes you may experience bright red blood while using your bowels

Of course where any blood loss occurs, particularly form the rectum, a quick visit to a doctor is advised so he or she can eliminate any further investigation and put your mind at ease.

Even though the direct cause of haemorrhoids is something of a mystery, there are some well known factors:

bulletlifting, straining
bulletextended periods of sitting / standing
bulletcontinual constipation - a common cause
bulletpregnancy

Fortunately, once the diagnosis has been reached, there is treatment available which will give you much relief.

Products available include soothing creams, ointments, wipes, suppositories and natural therapies.
