PRESCRIPTIONS

Prescription items can only be dispensed with an Australian Prescriptions written by Medical Practitioners registered in Australia. Please do not order any Prescription items if you cannot supply us with the Prescription.

We at Homepharmacy are proud to offer a complete professional service. All relevant medical details provided by you will in turn be used by our Pharmacist on Duty to safeguard against potential allergic, drug or health interactions. Our priority is to protect your well being and is compulsory for all Prescription Orders.

Australia's current Health Scheme means that some in our community will have differing entitlements when it comes to paying for their prescriptions. When a prescription form is dispensed by Homepharmacy, each prescription item will clearly identify up to four different prices which will depend on the patient's entitlements.
A breakdown of descriptions of the different prices are as follows:

PRIVATE PRESCRIPTIONS
When the Private Prescription Price is cheaper than NHS price, you may request that the prescription be dispensed as a Private Prescription instead of a NHS prescription which in turn will save you money. Please note that PRF Stickers cannot be issued for Private Prescriptions. If you wish to claim the item through Private Health Fund, please request a receipts when ordering the medication. Multiple Quantity for the same item can be ordered provided there are sufficient repeats.

N H S
NHS (National Health Scheme) prices are set by government and current legislation prohibits any discounting. PRF or Prescription Record Form stickers are supplied with NHS prescriptions and Homepharmacy will keep all Safety Net Totals up to date. Where there is no price appearing in the NHS box, this will mean that the prescription item is classed as a Private Prescription. Please note you cannot order multiple quantity of the same item under NHS Pricing for the same person per order. This is because NHS item have a time interval before the repeat can be dispense. However if you choose to have the prescription dispense on Private Prescription Pricing, multiple quantity can be ordered provided there are sufficient repeats.

CONCESSION CARDS
(Included in this category are the following: PENSIONERS, VETERANS AFFAIRS CARD HOLDERS, HEALTH CARE and CN CARD HOLDERS.
While card holders for the above will normally pay $5.40 for NHS Prescriptions, there may be some medications that will attract government surcharges. This can be avoided where possible by requesting the generic or less expensive equivalent when prompted. If no price appears in the benefit card box, private prices will apply.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All those with relevant entitlement cards must provide photocopies of said cards with their first Prescription Order to protect all parties against fraud!!

SN CARD HOLDERS
SN card holders will not be charged for their NHS prescriptions. Government surcharges will still apply to some medications as detailed previously on this page. Patients who hold a SN card will not be charged for postage and handling for their medications. As explained previously on this page, where the prescription item is not NHS, Private charges will apply.

IMPORTANT NOTE; All those with relevant entitlement cards must provide photocopies of said cards with their first Prescription order to protect all parties against fraud!!!

REPEATS
Homepharmacy offer you the option of having your Prescription Repeats filed for ease of dispensing as required. Please choose the option to have the Repeat filed when ordering. The next time you place an order and pay in full, we will match up the repeats with the order and dispatch the same day to you, thus saving you delivery time.

RESTRICTIONS
Current Government regulations state that emails and faxes of Prescriptions will not be dispensed. You must have a prescription that is of Australian Origin and written by a Registered Australian Doctor.
International Prescriptions will not be accepted.
DD (Dangerous Drugs S8) and Refrigerated Lines will not be supplied. Homepharmacy reserve the right to refuse supply of any goods if we feel our professional obligations are being compromised in any way. Homepharmacy offer service worldwide but dispensing prescriptions is restricted to Australia only.

GENERIC DRUGS
These brands are classed as "less expensive" and do not incur government charges. The generic drugs are equal in quality and strength due to some drug companies offering competitive prices and often the drug companies supply the drugs that incur government charges as well as their generic substitutes!!! Homepharmacy will supply the less expensive (generic) brand where available if instructed to do so by the patient.

PRESCRIPTION CODES
The following is a breakdown of terms to determine prescription pricing. Different pricing of prescriptions will apply to consumers who have entitlement cards. When you choose a prescription item, four different prices will be available to you to select from, depending on your entitlement circumstances.

PRIVATE; Private Prescription. No government subsidy which means the patient will pay full price for their medication. Anyone with a prescription may pay this price.

NHS; National Health Scheme price as set by the Government. Prescription Record Form Stickers are supplied and recorded on a Safety Net Card.
NOTE: (A) When this appears after a prescription item, an 'Authority Prescription' is required from the Government to be entitled to the NHS price.

CONCESSION: Entitlement Cards in this category are pension cards, health care cards, veterans affairs cards and Safety Net (CN) cards. All those with current relevant entitlement cards must provide a photocopy with their first order as proof on entitlement

SAFETY NET: SN cards or Safety Net Cards are issued on reaching safety net limits set by the Government.

WHAT THE SAFETY NET MEANS: If you and your family have a large amount of NHS prescriptions dispensed during a calendar year, you may reach the threshold where you and your family are entitled to a Safety Net Card. This means you are then able to receive NHS prescriptions at a cheaper rate or at not cost to you. A family can include a spouse or de facto: dependent children under the age of 16 and full time dependent students 25 years or younger.

Homepharmacy will automatically keep all records of NHS prescriptions dispensed by us for future Safety Net purposes. However, we cannot keep a record of those prescriptions dispensed at other pharmacies including hospital pharmacies.  As pharmacies are not linked in any way, it is advised that if using other pharmacies at any stage, you should keep a separate Prescription Record Form.

SAFETY NET THRESHOLD: The levels for 2017 are as follows:

GENERAL PATIENTS: $1494.90 per Calendar year (as of 2017). Once the Safety net level is reached, prescription items will be charged at $6.30 each. A safety net card will be issued allowing you and your family access to cheaper medicines for the remainder of the calendar year.

CONCESSION CARD HOLDERS: (pension, health care card holders etc), the Safety Net Threshold represents 60 prescription items. A Safety Net Card will be issued allowing NHS prescriptions to be free for you and your family for the remainder of the calendar year.

Please note that these figures are adjusted annually and do not include a surcharge for the more expensive/alternative medicine brands.
