| Usage |
|
Very Low Energy Diet: Replace all meals with three sachets (40g) each) per day. Additionally, at least 2 litres of calorie-free fluids and up to 2 cups of low starch or green vegetables should be consumed. Optifast milshake can also be used in combination with Optifast soup (two sachets of Optifast milkshake and two sachets of Optifast soup per day). |

Directions for use:
Add one sachet of Optifast to 200mL of cold or warm water. Stir, blend or shake to dissolve. Do not use boiling water. If desired, more water may be added. |

Caseinate, non-fat milk solids, maltodextrin, sugar, cocoa, sunflower oil, flavour natural and artificial, colour 160(a), emulsifier (322) and micronutrients. |

| Warning |
|
Patients with recent myocardial infarction should be referred to a cardiologist to determine suitability for modified fasting. Patients should be screened for gall bladder disorders prior to commencement of modified fasting using Optifast VLCD.
Patients receiving medication for diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia or those on lithium therapy may require a reduction in dose or withdrawal of treatment whilst undergoing modified fasting. Such patients should be monitored carefully in the first weeks of a Optifast VLCD program.
Patients with a history of hepatic or renal disease should also be monitored carefully.
Patients on lithium therapy require more frequent monitoring of blood lithium levels.
Alcohol should not be consumed when using Optifast VLCD. |
